The Alps in the summer….beautiful scenery, glacial lakes, a vibrant atmosphere and mouthwatering gastronomic cuisine. When visiting the mountains for a luxury alpine summer holiday, you need to think not only destinations that will give you the best selection of luxury chalets, but also where you can discover the many gourmet restaurants to enjoy after a long day breathing fresh mountain air.

A relative beginner to summer in the Alps before this year, I had the chance to visit in July, all I can say is that I am hooked! This really gave me an insight into just how much is going on in the Alps in the Summer months. Of course, I had to also indulge in the obligatory sampling of some fine local cuisine in some vibrant restaurants whilst out in France. I want to show you the very best that is available during the summer throughout France and Switzerland so without further ado…..let’s go gourmet!….

Flocons de Sel, Megeve

Flocons de Sel is a 3 Michelin star gourmet restaurant based in Megeve that comes with an exceptional reputation. Having won the reputable “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” translated as (Best Craftsmen of France) along with the “Compagnon du Tour de France” translated as (Companion of the Tour de France), this led to owner and renowned Chef Emmanuel Renaut being recently recognised with a third star in the Michelin guide. Established in 1997, the restaurant has become a long standing hot spot for VIP’s looking to get some of the best cuisine available in Megeve during both the Summer and Winter months. If you are looking for luxury gourmet food in the Alps the Flocons de Sel is a must on your next alpine summer holiday!

If you are interested to visit this exceptional restaurant to try some of the finest gourmet cuisine not only in Megeve but across the Alps, give us a call and you could be staying in Chalet Tanniere. The perfect luxury alpine chalet located in close proximity to the Chamois gondola and the lively centre of Megeve.

Auberge du Pere Bise – Jean Sulpice

Jean Sulpice is a famous 2 star Michelin Chef that has become renowned within the Three Valleys, based in the resort of Val Thorens. He has now set his sights on a new project and has opened a gourmet restaurant right on the lakeside of Annecy.

Auberge du Pere Bise has a history dating as far back as 1903 when it was originally founded. The inn has been synonymous with gourmet service with the previous owners receiving three Michelin stars as far back as 1951. Set in a beautiful part of the Alps that is a regular passing place for those heading to French Alps resorts, this restaurant is the ideal pit stop en-route to your luxury chalet. Annecy is aptly named the gateway to the Alps, and Lake Annecy offers jaw-dropping alpine scenery.

A good French resort in the Alps that is within driving distance of Lake Annecy and incredibly popular in the summer is the resort of Morzine. With a large variety of luxury summer chalets in Morzine to choose from, we can ensure you get the most luxurious summer alpine holiday that meets all your requirements.

If you want to really indulge and stay in a chalet that has the wow factor, we would recommend the Chalet Chardon, being based in close proximity to the centre of resort, this property is incredibly spacious and very well priced for what you get, especially in the Summer.

Restaurant Zum See – Zermatt

Our gourmet guide to summer in the Alps continues with Restaurant Zum See in Zermatt; very well known year round and a must visit restaurant for all the foodies out there. Our very own Rebecca was lucky enough to enjoy the restaurant first hand this summer and, to say the least, was blown away by the cuisine. Everything on the menu is homemade with their vegetables coming from their own patch, along with other delights including their house special Filet of Lamb “Provençale” with Rösti; a dish that has become highly recommended in the office. The walk to the restaurant in the summer is beautiful, with surrounding mountain views mixed with fields of green and wild streams that flow into the resort of Zermatt. If you are lucky enough to find yourself in this alpine paradise, I would thoroughly recommend visiting this beautiful mountain restaurant.

This then begs the questions, where do I stay in Zermatt? Well look no further as we have you covered… We present the incredible Backstage Loft; a contemporary design chalet that stands out from the rest. It is also located on the same side of resort as the walk up to Restaurant Zum See, so it is perfect if you are going on a gourmet Alps tour this summer.
